The Air⁶ range is our current Air line, and the Air⁵ still has plenty of fans. This guide compares the two generations model by model, using the published specifications, so you can see what has changed and whether it matters for the way you ride.
Air⁵ against Air⁶ Suspension
- Air⁵: 350W nominal and 840W maximum output, 46.9km range, 14% hill gradient and a weight of 16.2kg.
- Air⁶ Suspension: 350W nominal and 924W maximum output, 45km range, 14% hill gradient and a weight of 21.4kg.
The headline change is dual suspension on the entry model, which takes the sting out of rough tarmac and small bumps. The Air⁶ Suspension is heavier as a result, and the range figure is very close to the Air⁵.
Air⁵ Pro against Air⁶ Pro+ Suspension
- Air⁵ Pro: 350W nominal and 840W maximum output, 66.3km range, 14% hill gradient and a weight of 17.2kg.
- Air⁶ Pro+ Suspension: 350W nominal and 1200W maximum output, 75km range, 19% hill gradient and a weight of 23.0kg, with dual suspension.
This is the largest step up for everyday riders. The Air⁶ Pro+ Suspension adds more maximum output, more range and a steeper hill gradient, alongside the suspension.
Air⁵ Ultra Suspension against Air⁶ Ultra Max Suspension
- Air⁵ Ultra Suspension: 500W nominal and 1201W maximum output, 93.8km range, 19% hill gradient and a weight of 22.6kg.
- Air⁶ Ultra Max Suspension: 500W nominal and 1900W maximum output, 90km range, 36% hill gradient and a weight of 26.2kg. It adds a disc brake alongside the KERS rear brake.
Here the Air⁶ Ultra Max Suspension trades a little range for a great deal more power and climbing ability. If hills are part of your route, the difference is substantial. If maximum range matters most, the figures are close.
Should Air⁵ owners upgrade?
Only if something about your current scooter is holding you back. If you want dual suspension for a smoother ride, or more power for steeper hills, the Air⁶ range offers both.
