Most modern electric scooters are water resistant, but not all to the same standard. Every Pure Electric scooter is IP65 rated, which means it is built to handle rain, puddles and splashes. It does not mean the scooter can be submerged.
What an IP rating means
An IP rating has two digits. The first covers protection against dust and the second covers protection against water. A higher number means better protection.
An IP54 scooter is protected against dust and water splashing from any direction. That suits a light shower, but it is less suited to a wet ride. IP65 raises both: the scooter is dust tight and protected against water jets from any direction. In practice, that is the difference between coping with a drizzle and coping with a proper UK downpour.
What our IP65 rating covers
Our range is IP65 rated, including the Air⁶ range, Escape Pro+ Suspension, Advance and Flex. That means you can ride through rain, splashes and puddles with confidence. It does not cover the scooter being submerged or left in standing water, so avoid deep puddles and never wash it with a pressure washer or hose.

Riding in the rain safely
Wet roads matter more than a wet scooter. Brake earlier and more gently than you would in the dry, and leave extra space. Take care over painted lines, drain covers and wet leaves, which are slippery. Slow down through corners, and choose a lower speed mode if you are unsure of the surface.
Drying and storing your scooter
After a wet ride, wipe the scooter down with a damp cloth, then dry it with a towel, paying attention to the deck, stem and folding mechanism.
