Air vs Escape: which Pure scooter is right for you?

Air vs Escape: which Pure scooter is right for you?

Two ranges. Two very different riding characters. Both engineered in the UK to the same standards of safety, quality and reliability, yet built around different ideas of what a great ride should feel like.

The Air⁶ range is our lightweight, dual suspension line, refined for smooth, confident everyday riding. The Escape range is built around durability and our Ultimate Riding Stance, designed to stay planted and comfortable over longer time in the saddle and rougher ground. This guide breaks down what sets them apart, so you can choose the one that suits the way you actually ride.

The short answer

Choose the Air⁶ if you want a lighter, nimble ride with plush dual suspension and the option to scale up to our longest range and most powerful motor.

Choose the Escape if you want a rugged, planted ride with a forward-facing stance built for stability, traction and longer, rougher journeys.

Both share the features we fit as standard across the range: powerful motors, Active Steering Stabilisation System™, IP65 water resistance for British weather, and a quick fold for easy storage.

The Air⁶ range: light, smooth and refined

The Air⁶ is our introduction to dual suspension, and it shows the moment you set off. You step on, press the throttle, and small bumps simply disappear beneath you.

That comfort is earned by engineering, not marketing. Dual GlideMotion™ suspension pairs progressive front telescopic forks with adjustable rear twin shocks, cushioning the small stuff and softening larger impacts so the ride stays composed over uneven surfaces. The Air⁶ Suspension delivers up to 45km of range from a 924W motor, reaching 25km/h, rolling on 10 inch enhanced grip tyres, all from £399.

The Air⁶ is also the range that scales the furthest. Step up through the line and you reach the Air⁶ Ultra at up to 90km of range, and the Air⁶ Ultra Max with our most powerful motor yet at 1900W. If lightweight agility matters to you, and you want the freedom to go further or faster as your riding grows, the Air⁶ is built for it.

Best suited to you if: you value a light, easy-to-handle scooter, a plush suspended ride, and the option of class-leading range and power higher up the range.

The Escape range: rugged, planted and built to go further

Where the Air⁶ is about lightness, the Escape is about composure. Its defining feature is our Ultimate Riding Stance, a forward-facing position developed by our British engineers to improve balance and handling. The result is a ride that feels calmer and more planted, particularly over distance and across rougher ground.

Everything about the Escape is built to reassure. A steel frame adds strength and a solid feel underfoot. The 10 inch tubeless tyres resist punctures and grip confidently in the wet, while rear wheel drive improves traction on damp surfaces and steady, predictable climbing on hills of up to 19 percent gradient. Pure Control™ Steering Stabilisation is integrated into the frame, gently reducing unwanted handlebar movement so the scooter stays controlled when the surface is not.

Safety is considered front to back: a 150 lumen front light, a rear running light that brightens under braking, a front drum brake paired with a rear KERS regenerative system, plus reflectors and a bell. The Escape starts at £399, offers up to 44.1km of range, and folds down to 53cm for easy storage. For longer journeys, the Escape Pro and Pro+ extend the range further while keeping the same stable, forward-facing character.

Best suited to you if: you want a tougher, more planted ride, you tackle rougher or wetter surfaces, and you spend longer stretches on the scooter.

Head to head

Comfort: both ride smoothly, but they get there differently. The Air⁶ leans on dual GlideMotion suspension to absorb bumps, while the Escape uses its forward-facing stance and steel frame to feel planted and stable. If plush bump absorption is your priority, the Air⁶ has the edge. If you want a ride that feels rooted and confident, the Escape answers.

Durability: the Escape's steel frame and tubeless tyres are built for tougher conditions and resist punctures, making it the more rugged choice for rougher ground.

Weight and handling: the Air⁶ is the lighter, more nimble scooter to lift, fold and manoeuvre. The Escape trades a little of that lightness for the strength of its frame.

Range and power: both ranges scale up. The Air⁶ line reaches the furthest, up to 90km, and the most powerful, up to 1900W. The Escape line grows through the Pro and Pro+ for riders who want more distance with that signature stability.

Price: both start at £399, so your decision comes down to character rather than cost.

So, which one is right for you?

If you want a light, agile scooter with a plush, suspended ride, and you like the idea of growing into longer range or serious power, the Air⁶ is your range.

If you want a rugged, planted scooter built around stability, traction and comfort over longer and rougher rides, the Escape is made for you.

Either way, you are getting a scooter engineered in the UK, backed by the same safety, quality and reliability we build into everything we make. Remember that privately owned e-scooters can currently only be ridden on private land with the landowner's permission. Once you are there, the rest is simple: step on, and enjoy the ride.
