About the Bird Air
The Bird Air comes equipped with a 250W rear wheel motor and features a long claimed 26km range, which is competitive for any e-scooter retailing at just shy of £500. Recharge times are impressively low too, at four hours for a complete charge, while the Air tops out at 25km/h.
The frame is made of a hard-wearing aluminium alloy, which not only looks great in the flesh, but marks a step up from some plasticky or heavier medal frame materials seen in some sub-£500 e-scooters. Despite the full alloy construction, the Air tips the scales at an impressively light 13.6kg, while it’s also been designed to give a reassuringly predictable ride.
That light weight is combined with a neat folding mechanism, making it one of the easiest compact e-scooters around to pack away or carry with you. Plus, it features an official IP34 rating for water resistance, with addition IP67 protection for key components like the motor and battery.
The Air also benefits from an easy-to-read display on the stem, as well as Bird’s Bluetooth-connected app, which enables the owner to benefit from automatic firmware updates designed to optimise performance and range, and provide ride statistics.
