This week, to celebrate National Bike Week #BikeIsBest campaign, Pure Electric is uncovering the diversity of e-bikes with some of the highlights of our rapidly growing e-bike range.
With the recent accelerated investment by the UK Government to improve provisions for bike and e-bike use across the country, we know that now is the perfect time to rediscover cycling with a new e-bike. Each day, we’ll highlight an e-bike designed for a specific need, so that you can get a better idea of which kind could be right for you!
It’s day four, which means we’re switching our focus to the Scott Sub Cross eRide 20, a great example of an urban sports e-bike.
Day One: Orbea Gain F40 Electric Hybrid Bike
Day Three: Brompton M6L 6 Speed Electric Folding Bike
Day Four: Scott Sub Cross eRide 20 Electric Hybrid Bike
Day Five: Gtech Sports and City Hybrid Electric Bikes
An urban-ready e-bike with a sporty, all-road attitude
Scott is renowned in the bike and multi-sports industries as a pioneer – and with its Sub Cross eRide 20, the door is open to new and exciting e-bike adventures without losing any urban practicality.
Built to withstand the demands of an off-road trail and gravel path, the Scott Sub Cross eRide 20 opens up a new world of riding, ready for discovery.
A high-specification, specially designed alloy frameset forms the core of the riding experience, integrating Scott’s Power Tube design concept that sees the 400Wh battery unit fit into the downtube of the frame, and the Bosch Active Line motor system integrate neatly around the bottom bracket. The result is an e-bike that handles just like an ordinary bike, but with the added benefit of pedal assistance.
Up front, a Suntour suspension fork smooths out rough gravelly surfaces, while the riding position is also designed to be comfortable for longer rides, with a quality Selle Royal Essenza saddle in place to provide a comfortable place to sit. This combination is also perfect for urban riding too, with the smooth ride ideal for dealing with typical city lumps and bumps like potholes and speed humps.
The Scott Sub Cross eRide 20 not only comes ready to tackle off-road terrain, it also comes prepared for the day-to-day demands of the urban environment, with high quality components completing the build.
A 9-speed Shimano Acera groupset ensures that power transmission is smooth, with reliable shifting in all conditions, matched up to a wide ranging 11-42 tooth cassette, giving plenty of gearing range for steep hills.
Shimano also supplies the brakes, with powerful hydraulic disc brake calipers providing powerful and controllable stopping power in all conditions. You’ll have plenty of off-road grip from the chunky Kenda Booster tyres while also performing on tarmac, and you get them fitted to tough, reliable Mach1 MAXX wheels.
Meanwhile, the details have been taken care of too – built-in accessories like a kickstand and chain guard, plus the ability to fit mudguards, make the Sub Cross eRide 20 a very well-rounded e-bike for both the off-road and urban environments.
The bottom line
The Scott Sub Cross eRide 20 for many will supply the best of both worlds. Not only is it designed to tackle off-road tracks with its front suspension fork and chunky tyres, but it’s also an incredibly capable e-bike for the everyday urban commute too. Thanks to the smart integration of a Bosch Active Line motor system with a 400Wh battery for impressive range, you’ll be pulling this bike out of the garage time and again.
Come back tomorrow for our final National Bike Week e-bike highlight: a double header with the great-value Gtech City and Sports e-bikes.
